It wasn't clear from the sailing directions where they were, so we just anchored close off the slip and towards the green perch.

I wasn't too concerned about the wind strength when we were there, gusting to 17knts but more about the effect of the tide. It made the anchor chain vibrate a bit - the reason why we only stopped for 1 drink.

Maybe if I had anchored closer to where Terry was they're might have been less tide - There was a large blue Moody already anchored near to us, and they were all aboard, which made me feel uncomfortable when I arrived.

I actually had a bit of difficulty extracting my CQR. It was well dug in after only two hours...

Donald,
Anchor anywhere from the slip to the orange mooring buoy or even a little further east than the buoy, there is normally plenty of room, was there a month ago and had 9 boats at anchor, I guess you tend to find your own favourite spot and stick to it, beats going to Campletown though for us guys from Troon when heading around the Mull and also a nice day sail from Troon.

Hope to see you about.

" Thats the one, a great little spot to drop the hook although a little limited for space."

I haven't been there for ages, but didn't they blow up the rock in the middle of the bay a while back to make it easier for people? Having a titchy boat, I didn't bother with all that anchoring lark - just tied up to the small but sheer rock side of the bay and stepped ashore...

Hi,

Yes they blew the rock up and now it is two rocks!!!! though to be honest the one on the port side when you enter is the factor that may catch you out but providing you line up the cairn with the cross on the hill after pasing the white patch of quartz on the east side all will be well!!!! Never managed to get down into the cave, looked a nasty climb back out after all the rain that had fallen the previous day.

Paul.
