10.2Ltr G M V8's any info?

GM Toroflow

Hi - I was the American Marine service engineer who travelled all over the world trying to keep these running!! - believe me it was quite a job!!
They were manufactured by GM Truck and Coach division and fitted in US buses - nothing to do with the GM two strokes or car engines at 10.2 l they too big and heavy for any car!
They were never designde to be fitted with turbo's,this was done by American Marine they hired an exDetroit diesel man called Bob Conn to do the development work in California
American Marine even had their own cams ground for the counter rotating engine, and all of the marinising equipment was made by American marine in the far east! - only difference between the Laguna 10m end 11.5m engines was the injection pump extention shaft to move the pump to the back of the engine
My main job wsa to go around every boat and de-rate the engines - this involde smaller turbo's smaller fuel pump element smaller injectors and smaller props - the reason for this is the early engines broke crankshafts!! - I changes 10+ engines because of this problem!
Laguna's were designed to take the small Caterpillar V8 which American marine turbo'd - the first 10-20 Laguna 10 m boats were fitted with thees Cats but Caterpillar didn't like "Amarine" uprating there engine so they pulled the plug and American Marine had to look around pretty quickly and find an alternative - Hence the Toroflow (named because of the combustion chamber shape) - The engines ran fine at the lower HP rating and better still as they were designed without the turbo's (quite a few were fitted to the "Alaskan" and GB 50 Motor Yachts)

No, they went with the boat when it was sold, but it is still at Cuxton so when I see the owner I'll ask if he's still got them.
Poor boat hasn't moved since we sold it! ( over eight years ago)
If it's of any interest the "spare" engines are still at Cuxton, however they are outside and the covers rotted through long ago so I don't know if anything is salvagable.

Thanks for the reply did you sell the motors with the boat apparently they are counter rotating
would appreciate if you could find out if they are available and a copy of the manual would be great
They are a great old boat
