It looks possible that Mrs W will sanction the household purse leaking 20k for the purchase of a boat to keep on the West Coast for a couple of seasons. Purchase to take place this autumn. The 20k includes any essential repairs to make said boat seaworthy. I have been playing the long game, and by taking the family on enjoyable cycling and camping holidays have ensured that they are not the sort to require pampered luxury. However we do need enough space to live on the boat for a wet week on Mull without resorting to violence. No need for expensive instrumentation. So panel my requirements within my price range are:
enough room to swing a cat
monohull yacht
not too ugly
likely to retain value over two years of ownership
no need for sparkling sailing performance, but I would like to be able to sail off a lee shore dragging the remains of a pot marker with my prop (if necessary)
preferably 6ft headroom at chart table/ galley
midge proof and suitable for sailing in wet weather
I leave LOA at your discretion
so what do you suggest?
