£150k what would you buy (and why?)

If you are seriously looking for yourself try the bunks for size and take a tape measure I am a shortass 5ft 11 and I cant sleep in less than a 6ft 6 and my youngest is 6ft 3 and almost all the boats we looked at the third cabin had 6ft bunks except the Aquastar 48 and the Nordwest 43.

Choice semi displacement or planing

Think brand some age less than others

I'd buy the biggest old grp displacement ****ter I could find.

Doesn't meet the spec in many ways, but if I had 10k I'd be buying the biggest boat I could find with a GRP or metal hull.

Very similar boats to those on my short list for when enough funds saved! I agree about 3rd cabin for children. I liked the Rodman but felt the saloon was a bit small. Bunk cabin on 42/5 also a little small. What about Antares 13.8, again saloon smaller than some. My favourite would be the Prestige 46 as mentioned in your other post especially as it has the raised dinette in saloon which gives children somewhere to sit and play whilst adults have main seating area.

Dave

Can you get a 460 without the horrendous Princess burr maple vomit woodwork?

I was about to suggest the Princess 440, they certainly come in dark cherrywood, because there is plenty of space and light it is not dark.

you would have loads of change out of £150k to bring it up to your standard and keep it there.
I'm not one for encouraging over spending, if you can afford £150 spend £120 and remain cash rich so you can enjoy it fully(can modify twins into doubles too).

I've seen too many over stretch and then live almost like raggies !

You do t know I'm not doing that already!

But a fair point non the less

The interior looks superb but I wonder whether those are brochure shots or the actual boat? Shame about the blue hull fading though.

thats exactly how they look after 20y Mike, come over and convince yourselve ;-)

The first one, had issues iirc but don't remember what exactly (discovered during my search 2y ago)

the second one, the stern mods seem well done, but they made the deck longer, so now the model is not nice in ballance anymore (side vieuw)

there are quite a few white 60's on the market (search Canados 60 at mondial brokers)

Difficult to find tri cabin boats in this budget. An outside suggestion from me would be to try bargain a Lagoon Power 43 down to your budget.

Hi White,

Assuming you have only £150k to spend (joke!), why not get a custom built steel boat.
Rule of thumb: £1k per/ft fabrication hull.
Tractor engines *2 100hp: £15k
Fit out: £....? Say £20k

Total for brand new steel disp. Boat approximately £90k.

Biggest prob. With fibreglass is you can mould it into any shape...and they have. Would you live in a plastic house?

You won't find anywhere to park it in the Med. Most Med berths are very strict on beam

if you want a sealine f425 in the med make sure you get at least 430Hp engines else it will struggle in the heat and warm water.
