Double ended sailing boats under 30’

I am sure I read a few years ago that Sir Francis Chichester wouldn't choose a canoe stern again after a world passage. Apologies I have a terrible memory but he also mentioned the boat 'donkeyed' a lot. Not sure if that was to do with the stern. In big seas in a bigger boat would it really make...

A fall in boat prices on horizon?

Just sold a desirable little open boat within a day of advertising for the asking of 6.5k! I bought it this time last year and have made 1K on it. If you buy really nice boats that are different or desirable then you will always come out well. It's not just little boats. I have always done the...

Manufacturing fault causing white to show through gel coat on hull!

It's a dark green coloured gel coat, not faded, the white shows through like liquid spill within the gelcoat! Happened also on some of the dark red hulls apparently. I am selling the boat which was at a reduced price so no problem. It doesn,t effect the integrity, it just looks like it has been...

Manufacturing fault causing white to show through gel coat on hull!

I was told white patchy areas that have appeared on my green coloured hull were a known manufacturing fault. It cannot be polished out, needs painting. What would cause this?

What a straightforward, basic boat that Victoir is... will simply do the job for someone for a nice price.

Wayfarer or small keelboat for small budget cruising?

Loads of people trailer sail to locations abroad and sleep on their boats either under canvas or in the cabin. Netherlands, Scandinavia, Venice, Med, France etc etc. Go on your own or through an organised rally.

When is this weird gusty Solent weather going to ease!

I don't think I have ever known these strange, long term, continous gusty conditions. Is this effecting your sailing as well? Hope the latter part of the week is better.

Does a Norfolk Gypsy fit our needs ?

Tranona has really hit the nail on the head in all areas BUT just to add, the Gypsy has lead ballast so it will not eventually corrode and expand as it may/does on a Shrimper making the centre plate jam as they put in steel punchings (A Cape Cutter is a better bet over a Shrimper for its...

Tradewind Yachts - think I'm going to sell up and buy one!

That must have been an interesting drive through the lanes, especially the very last bend at the bottom of the hill! Keep us posted with more pics 😁

One law for us and another for the sewage firms! The River Authorities have a recruitment drive at the moment. Plenty of Jobbies there apparently!

    Small flush decked boats

🤣the 'bucket and chuck it' has had to be upgraded to a Porta Potti BUT as yet not needed after 5 years in small boats just pootling about the Solent. The bucket is still the simplest way... think of it as simple camping on water.

    Small flush decked boats

One of the many advantages of a smaller boat, especially with a flat cabin top e.g. The Cape Cutter, Shrimper, Norfolk Gypsy, or a Kotic from Iian Oughtred is by chopping off 4-5' you simply step up onto the cabin top and hold on to the mast, shrouds or grab rails. Once forward you step into the...
