I use Absolute Tides app - gives tides for about a year ahead I think. And buy a paper Almanac every few years for the port details.

Ok, enough positive posts to convince me to have a go next season! Must be a great feeling to make it through successfully and overtake all the ‘scenic route’ sailors :)

A couple I met on the headland told me that you can use the transit marks for the Yealm backwards to indicate the channel- no idea if true. They said they used to do it often, and once went between the 2 Mewstones whilst racing- hard core!!

In 20 years, I’ve only ever seen a couple of (>30 foot) boats take the short cut inner passage between the Mewstone and mainland on the way to Plymouth (or back). But on Navionics it looks very do-able. Does anyone have experience/advice? I’m very tempted to take the plunge! ps do any charts...

I bought a new Pogo2 (from California) as a mid life crisis (early 50s). Had it for about 3 years - amazing fun - regret not making her more cruisey (lazy jacks, roller furling, cushions) -in the end it was just not great for overnight trips or taking friends out :)

In SW, about 95% don’t have flags. I’ve never seen any with registration numbers. What regulation would you advise to sort the problem (which you recognise)? Do you support my idea of a law change so that any inadequately marked pot could be legally removed by anyone?
