Are you suggesting there is something about the end of the pipe (tube?) that I need to somehow recognise? Sorry if I'm being thick but I can't quite understand what you are suggesting but thanks for taking time to help nevertheless.
That's what I would like to do but I don't have a spacer. I am going to try to contact a VP retailer tomorrow to try to identify/purchase the spacer and o-ring so I can try to replace/fit them.
Thanks. Neither engine has anything above the bracket on the pipe; that's clearly an issue; any idea what the part numbers are for the o-ring and spacer?
It's quite like that at the bottom but the top is connected to a black plastic filter component. Attached is a poor picture but perhaps can be made out. I will take a decent one when next at boat.
Thanks for the drawing; not sure if that is the pump or not but the bracket to which I refer is not shown in the drawing but, as you say, it might help in a search.
Thanks Paul, I've maybe not explained clearly. The fork in my case is part of a small bracket that is bolted to the front of the pump cover - i.e. it is retained by 2 of the bolts that fix the cover in place. I've seen drawing of a different fork retained by a single bolt from below but that's...
Was at boat today and noticed on tick-over raw water dripping out where there is a metal pipe connected to the bottom of the impeller housing. Increasing revs increases the leak. Can anyone advise how the pipe is fitted and how I might reseal it? The impeller cover has a bracket bolted on the...
Finally got a resolution to this late last year; it was a burnt inlet valve. Head taken off, repaired and replaced. All is well again now. Happy New Year all.
Thanks for your reply. She's out the water at the moment but should be going back in this week. I will update the thread once I've tried what you've suggested.
I have 2 x AD31b - 290DPs. Earlier this year, one has developed a lack of power to the extent that when warmed up will not exceed 1,200RPM under load. Air and fuel filters all changed with no dice. Boat been out of water, all the usual done but also drives removed and checked over, no issues...
It went remarkably well. Took it very easy after pre-start checks. Warmed up in the outer harbour and then out to sea. Onto the plane no bother. No a lot of smoke on start-up either. Made it to Lamlash (from Troon) in about 45 minutes; sea was quite lumpy so engines go a reasonable test. Only...
Now retired (almost) but due to recent work commitments I haven't used boat in a year. Hoping to get out very soon. Engines and drives were serviced a year ago along with antifouling and anodes. Is there anything beyond testing on pontoon and then outer harbour runs I should be doing before...
