I can only imagine the boat was surfing down large waves, so not your typical MOB in the Solent scenario....
The question is why are Clipper putting their crews at risk by not using furling head sails? Or furlers = less crew = less income/profit per boat...

It's very insulting to suggest these people are simply paying passengers on some sort of holiday....
No, they are CREW members onboard an ocean going vessel....
and they come home with alot more sailing experience than many of us on this forum....

Somebody goes forward without a tether and gets washed overboard in big seas...
Somebody gets killed by a crashing boom...
Sailing RTW is a risky business.

None of these stink pots are going to offer you the sea keeping of a Centaur, fine if you just want to sit around on a mooring but rubbish for everything else.
