Advice on tying down luggage securely

I'm going on a 9M RIB. I have a few luggage cases. I want to make sure they are tied down tight and securely for obvious reasons so they don't go flying about. Can anyone give some practical advice, what to tie it down to, what to use, etc?

    Sailing yacht radar visibility

Nothing. My original question was is it true such a sailing vessel could only be seen on radar from 3 nm away, or is that scare mongering by someone trying to sell me radar reflectors? My comment about 20 nm was the closest thing we have achieved to an approximation in this thread is more than...

    Sailing yacht radar visibility

In less than a day? Anyway there's all kinds of things flying around. Some say less than 1km, some say 8-10 nm, some say 20 nm.... So all I can reasonably take away is a sailing vessel probably at most can be seen on radar from 20nm away

    Sailing yacht radar visibility

How could RN and Border Force see much further than 20 nm, if as you say radar mounted on top of a 100m cliff is 21 miles? I've yet to see a naval vessel with a mast for a radar 100m in the air!

    Sailing yacht radar visibility

All sorts of answers coming in. Let me phrase this another way. If you were in a 30 sailing yacht with the sails up, with or without radar reflector, do you think any radar could reasonably pick it up from 20 nm away?

    Sailing yacht radar visibility

My question is WITHOUT radar reflector. The guy is trying to convince me to fit radar reflectors. So I'm interested in knowing APPROXIMATE visibility without radar reflector compared to with. And is his line about a yacht with the sails up and no radar reflector only being visible from 3 nm...

    Sailing yacht radar visibility

I am aware of the variables of when it comes to radar range, such as the height of the radar, height of the target, power of the radar, sea conditions, etc. Someone was telling me recently that a sailing yacht, even with the sails up, has very poor radar reflective capabilities. According to...

Advice on best conditions for a RIB

I've been on a RIB a couple of times before in some rough seas and strong winds and was getting absolutely battered. Can anyone with good experience advise what sort of wind speed and wave heights would be acceptable for a relatively smooth ride on a RIB? I'm talking for in the Channel and the...

New rules for boating from EU to UK

I've heard some people saying this procedure may be making a comeback some time soon. Can anyone confirm is anyone getting asked to wait for two hours and if no one shows consider themselves cleared?

New rules for boating from EU to UK

You can't arrive at Fecamp but you certainly can depart from there. The procedure for departure is uniform across all the EU and simply involves notifying the nearest port and carrying a designated form on board.

New rules for boating from EU to UK

You are quite right, I had misread that. It appears you do need to phone the National Yachtline in any case. It seems to me when things return to normal, the National Yachtline is going to be inundated with calls and C1331 forms given all the cross channel traffic in pleasure craft. So I have...

New rules for boating from EU to UK

That doesn't appear to be the guidance: Notice 8: sailing your pleasure craft to and from the UK

New rules for boating from EU to UK

Let me summarize my understanding of the new rules in force now post-Brexit transition for sailing pleasure craft from the EU to the UK, and if I get anything wrong or miss anything out then please correct me; If you and everyone on board is British and you don't have any goods to declare then...
