Day / coastal sailing pretty much everything gets taken ashore to put in a bin - apart from stuff that gets thrown overboard - which includes teabags Longer passage? mmmmm, not got extensive experiance - but I would not be filling the boat up with Garbage.......99% overboard for safety and...

[ QUOTE ] Hi, Thanks for the replies. The boat has 4 years receipts and it was sold from one friend to another. I should be able to track him down. Where would I find the HIN typically? Thanks, Tom [/ QUOTE ] 4 Years of receipts would be enuf for me on a boat of that value / type.....if...

    Buoyancy

Whilst I can understand that rapid auto inflation is important for a lifejacket or Liferaft as you may need it within .05 seconds of pulling the cord..........perhaps you do not need the same facility onboard? given that the odds are that any incidents that result in total flooding in under .05...

[ QUOTE ] We're kinda on the wrong thread here [/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't worry about it - I never do [ QUOTE ] but while trawling the web for "explosively formed" aluminium boats I saw plenty of white alu..(gods I'm fed up typing Aluminium!) Yank boats (none had been exploded though!)...

    Making an Orkney Fastliner 19..........sail?!!

I think that is a "traditional Moldavian lobster potter" ........somehow I cannot see it making 20/25 knots .......so I am not buying it Looks like a lot of thought and effort has gone into the design and build of the hull - which to my eyes is very pretty - makes me suspect the cabin is...

    Making an Orkney Fastliner 19..........sail?!!

Perhaps not literally! But I have been thinking .............. The combination of lots of power and also sail is attractive to me - just that to me something like the Macgregor 26 is butt ugly and for me is too much of a sailing boat / caravan (not meant as a criticism). What I would like is...

    PetersOpal

Interesting reading this thread - like many others also a bit of an eye opener It seems legal protection wise folk are better off buying a timeshare It seems the way to go is stage payments, secured against a specific hull - or failing which 10% deposit and the balance on delivery and...

Limited Company to protect yacht from Spanish Residency issues

[ QUOTE ] de facto residency in Spain (>183 days in one calendar year) after which there is a possibility that the Spanish authorities might deem us to be de facto residents, charge taxes on the yacht and require her to be re-flagged. We cannot an will not let this happen as the cost would be...

    Motorboat Brokerage

On the website (and in the office) spell out clearly how the boat buying (and selling) process is meant to work (albeit always exceptions!)......ie, a looksee (or 2), seatrial, offer subject to seatrial / survey (and what is / is not considered rejectable) with a deposit (for this I...
