    Techimpex Oven

Hi, Does anyone know how to remove the stove top of a Techimpex oven? Is it just a matter of removing the two burners, removing the screws in the 4 corners and lifting the top up (I presume the thermocouples will have enough ‘give’ in them) or is there anything else I need to know? Thanks,

    QL Calorifier Parts

Thanks for all the replies. I think I've now sourced an 800W element, so my next question is, should I use PTFE tape or some kind of sealing compound when I fit it? Thanks,

    QL Calorifier Parts

Hello, Does anyone know of a UK supplier of 800W heating elements and/or thermostats for a QL Calorifier, circa 2003? Is there anything special about these, or are they the same physical size as domestic ones (although I suspect it's difficult to get an 800W domestic element of any size)? Thanks,

    Seago oil extractor pump

Thanks Thanks for the replies. The Seago pump does look all but identical to the Silverline one mentioned. I seem to remember buying the Seago on the strength of it doing quite well in a YM test... I do always run the engine for a while to warm the oil. I'll make sure the pump is screwed in...

    Seago oil extractor pump

I have a Seago oil extractor pump that does eventually remove the expected quantity from the sump, but it takes about 20 minutes of regular pumping to achieve this. I thought that once the vacuum had been created, no or little further pumping would be required. Am I wrong, or is there possibly...

Lofrans Cayman anchor windlass stopped working

Thanks Thanks all. It sounds like the control box - there is +12v on the high current terminal from the battery (via a circuit breaker), there is also +12v on the up / down terminals when the remote control buttons are pressed, but no relay click. All points to control box I think.

Lofrans Cayman anchor windlass stopped working

Thanks Thanks all. I don't need to bypass the remote control switches - when they are pressed +12v is on either of the two (up /down) connectors on the box, but no relay click, so I think the control box is where the fault lies? Also there is +12v on the high current terminal connected (via a...

Lofrans Cayman anchor windlass stopped working

Very similar to this, but without the corrosion:

Lofrans Cayman anchor windlass stopped working

After being anchored for 2 days, on pressing the ‘up’ button nothing happened – a waggle of the remote control wire temporarily produced some action. However this turned out to be a red herring. I’ve checked the remote control wiring with a meter (dismantled the handset to get at the other...

    Volvo saildrive seacock connectors

Does anyone know what material (i.e. brass, bronze, DZR etc) the Volvo Penta saildrive (MS25A) seacock hosetail (and the fitting twixt seacock & alloy saildrive housing) are made from? I have a DZR seacock, but have no idea what the components either side of it are made from. The Volvo...

    Passerelle yoke & socket

Does anyone know of an online supplier of a reasonably priced passerelle yoke & socket? We are aware of this one:http://www.bigship.com/catalogue/vie-a-bord-1/cockpit/passerelles-et-plateformes/fixation-pour-passerelle-lyre-pivotant That seems a lot of money for a short length of metal bar...

    In-mast or in-boom furling

Not that I'm thinking of changing to either any time soon (one day perhaps...) but I am intrigued as to why in-boom furling isn't more popular. It seems to have all the advantages - the extra weight is low down, the sail can be dropped in a jam / emergency and the sail can still have battens...

    Overwintering in the Algarve

Thanks Ludd. We found the same thing with PtWiFi in Oeiras - Skype but Skype only - curious! After all the research and help from this forum we are torn between staying in Lisbon and moving to Albufeira (in that case getting a PAYG dongle if necessary) for the slightly better weather, so are...

    Overwintering in the Algarve

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know if the bar with the wifi reachable on the pontoons remains open all winter? We are sorely tempted by everything else at Albufeira, but as we really do need wifi on board it would be a bit of a disaster if we got there and found it wasn't available in...
