Hi All,
We're based near Pangbourne and are lucky enough to have a house with a small mooring.
The mooring needs some attention as it's steadily collapsing, so I'm looking for a marine contractor who can install some sheet piling and tidy things up.
We probably need a small amount of...
Hi All,
The lighting system on our boat fades the lights up as they're switched on, fades them down (to nothing) as they're switched off, and allows the brightness to be set when on.
The various downlights are all still fitted with Halogen 10W G4 lamps because I've read that it's really...
Just thought I'd feedback in case it helps someone else … it was the positive battery lead. Insulated sheath of the cable was in good shape, but most of the strands within the positive cable had corroded inside.
New cable on its way!
Thanks for your help!
Do you know what - it just might be. It's a brand new battery and the fault wasn't there when we parked her up in October. I've only changed the battery on her (nothing else) and the fault is now present, but the battery came charged to 12.8V out of the box, and is still out-putting 12.8V...
Hi All,
Is anyone able to give me a few ideas on an electrical problem I have with the 2004 Yamaha 15HP outboard on my RIB?
All was good when we stored the RIB in the autumn, but on trying to start her today (electric start), she appears dead. The battery is charged (to 12.8V), but as soon...
Cheers - I spoke with them today and they were a bit hazy as to the brand of their after-market props, but eventually said they were from South Korea, so yes, I think they must be the BS Pro brand.
Hi all,
I need to replace our original (and slightly warped!) VP B5 duo props and have been looking at the after-market brands as a cheaper alternative to genuine VP props.
Michigan Marine, BaekSan Propeller Co (BS Pro) and Solas all offer directly equivalent props.
Has anyone tried any of...
No - I had a fresh cylinder of Butane on-board so that's the first thing I tried. The gas line from the cylinder feeds into a small 2 way manifold with isolation valves behind one of the cupboards in the galley. I've removed this (suspecting there may be some sort of gauze or similar in the...
Thanks, and yes - looking at some images on the KAD43 engine online, the drain in the aftercooler is directly above the top of the starter motor where I'm first seeing the oil appear.
Oil also seems to be collating in a pocket/web of the engine casting behind the starter motor … a 4-5 hour run...
Hi Boathook,
The distribution plates and burner caps have some pretty non-negotiable positioners, so I'm pretty sure these are fitted correctly.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi All,
I'm hoping that someone here has some experience with gas hobs?
Whilst away this weekend, our gas regulator failed and delivered unregulated (cylinder pressure) Camping Gas to the Techimpex 2 ring gas hob in our S38. I pressed the ring control knob in preparation to light it, and the...
