Harbour control are brilliant despite it being such a busy ferry port. Always found them on the ball and helpful
No personal experience as I bodge things myself but a chum has had some major work done. He found Suffolk yacht harbour to be good and also Frank Halls at Walton.

Got a vague memory that the chilli myth was a spoof from an April issue of PBO. Another year an April article was about the threat posed by the polyestermite which nibbled grp like gribble and teredo chewed wood.

Hmm, Pelagic sounded tempting but nearly twice price of ST2000. I've been thro 2 st2000 and a Simrad because of water ingress. Pampered them with jackets, not using them in rain or spray ( just when I want to shuffle up under spray hood. No avail! Spent my money on a Hebridean wind vane kit...
My last boat had an old 1GM and I replaced it with a new one ....still had problems cold weather starting.
My solution was to croc clip a caravan hair dryer to the house battery and prop it by the air inlet. It helped
Here's my twopennorth, some of which already said but thought worth endorsing:
Lyme Bay is a long hop with dodgy Portland Bill at the end. Sensible option is to go 4 or 5 miles out but then Weymouth and Portland are a diversion . If you still feel up to it, could press on and maybe anchor...

I'm biased as an H 30 owner. Yep, a bit limited on volume downstairs. In every other respect head and shoulders above the Westerly.
If you want something more towards the floating cottage ( and why not ), go for the Westerly barge.
