Good points. Like most things in sailing. a compromise has to be made in many areas. Works well for me though.

It may well be that they are glassed into the hull.

EVA Foam for me. Cheap as chips and hard wearing. Comfy on bare feet and bounces when you drop something.

I was about to buy an electric stand alone lawn mower . Everything was looking good until I found some reviews about battery longevity . So opted for a cabled mower and have done away with petrol. Lithium still look good in comparison with LA battery banks in boats with regard to longevity ...

You probably already know the hardest part - that is maneuvering slowly in a marina under power with control despite the conditions. The rest is a doddle . I'm sure you are going to have lots of fun and adventures under sail.

Just wondering why electric outboards are so expensive. Much less gubbins and complexities than a petrol outboard. There are cordless garden mowers that, price wise , compare well with petrol mowers.

If taking youngsters it might be worth checking when the dolphin and whale killings take place.
