Thanks for this, very helpful!! I used the warning light as you suggested to diagnose and eventually figured the 'excitation' supply was loose. All working now with 14v across the bats. Cheers!

    Yanmar GM30F - Alternator wiring

Hi all, I recently had some rewiring done and it feels like the alternator is not doing anything now, despite being driven fine. Had some difficulty working out which of the connectons are what on the alternator itself, does anyone happen to know? Its sitting at 12.5 v either when the engine...

Small leak from rudder post...no packing nuts?!

Thanks for this info. Does that mean pretty much always removing the entire rudder stock to replace the seal?

Small leak from rudder post...no packing nuts?!

Not sure, was hoping to avoid taking the entire thing apart in case it ends up leaking more! I was wondering if someone was familiar with the setup if tightening the horizontal nuts was likely to help the small leak

Small leak from rudder post...no packing nuts?!

Hi all, I've a very small (one drip per 10 seconds) leak from my rudder packing. Hi all, I want to change my saildrive anode as the boat is on the mooring, before I do I'd like to buy a few few spare bolts in case I drop one! Its a Yanmar SD20 split anode, just two simple screws that hold it in. I have the dimensions to buy screws but I am struggling to identify what...

    Surfing is OK then ?

Same as everything, common sense should be used. I personally wouldnt go to busy shops or parks. Likewise I wouldnt go to busy surf / exercise areas.

    Surfing is OK then ?

This blanket statement is not correct. Local surfers here asked the police (in the relevant area), who confirmed surfing locally is acceptable Thankfully enforcment have the power apply common sense

    Coronavirus: Delaying launch? New precautions?

It's common sense. I know my local marina, I've been there a few times. Personally if I did go to the boat I'd not be within 10m of anyone the entire time for sure! (Speaking from experience when I go looking for someone in the past to give me a hand with something!) For sure if your local...
