Antal genoa car nylon sliding inserts

The nylon inserts on my Antal genoa cars have worn/broken to the point of needing replacement, but I can't seem to find any for sale. Has anybody had a similar problem and managed to find a distributor? I have tried Marineware who Antal list as their UK agent with no luck. The cars themselves...

Yanmar 3YM20 Oil pressure and water temp sender questions

There's something in the back of my mind saying the oil pressure sender thread was M10x1 on my 3YM30 (rather than 1/8 BSP). This differs from what's suggested in the link above, so it's worth doing a little more research if you can. The Yanmar parts book sometimes tells you.

    Stowe/Robertson/Simrad Databox

If anybody has, or is planning to sell at some point this year, a Stowe / Robertson / Simrad IS11 Dataline or Dataline-X Databox, please PM me. I would potentially also be interested in other Dataline instruments. Many thanks, David

Raymarine Evolution wheel pilot - what's it like standalone?

Does anybody have experience of using the new Raymarine Evolution wheel pilot without it being connected to any other NMEA devices, totally standalone? My old ST4000’s ‘brain’ has failed (water damage) and I’m weighing up whether to repair or replace it. The only other instruments I have are...

    Torqeedo bearings question.

I had this on my Travel 503 too. I found a way to adjust the friction by slackening off the two screws that clamp the leg to the bushing a fraction. You have to remove a little grey cover on the leg to get at the clamp, this is immediately behind the transom clamp on mine. Mine was also...

    Cutless bearing housing removal

I remember seeing that rule of thumb when I re-engined my Halcyon 27. I interpreted it differently, in that the three 'items' were the engine beds, coupling and shaft. In my case with the Halcyon, I had a shaft with no degree of flexibility at either end and the old engine bolted directly to...

    Cutless bearing housing removal

Thank you all for your replies, I’m glad what I’ve got isn’t out of the ordinary. My last boat, a Halcyon 27 which I owned for over 25 years, had a very different arrangement – the tube was firmly glassed in and replacement would have involved some serious surgery. It had a greased white metal...

    Cutless bearing housing removal

Thanks to the help above I got the carrier off without any fuss – a three-foot pair of Stilsons made short work of it and the set screws holding in the bearing were eventually located under many years’ worth of antifouling. Many thanks to those who replied for the advice. After it all came...

    Cutless bearing housing removal

I am renewing the cutless bearing on my Rustler 36 this winter, as the grumbling from the shaft was becoming louder as the season progressed, as was the water ingress from the stern gland. The cutless bearing housing in the propeller aperture is secured with two bolts through the hull, with...

    SABB diesel spares

I have now removed the SABB 8H diesel from our Halcyon 27 and installed a small Vetus which I am very happy with. My entire SABB collection is now surplus to requiements. If you need anything, please get in touch via email dgbalfour@gmail.com. I have one complete engine including a recently...
