    Re-engined Centaur

http://www.westerly-owners.co.uk/ We looked at a centaur before buying our Pageant. £6000 would have bought us a ropey Centaur, but we ended up with a nicely sorted Pageant for that money.

    Barton boomstrut on movable boom?

Thanks for the info. I have the same problem with the sail track not extending far enough, though maybe not to the same extent judging by your pic. I used to have to move the boom each time, but found I can just about leave it in the correct position and still get the sail cover round it at the...

    Barton boomstrut on movable boom?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but did you ever get round to fitting the boomstrut on your Pageant? If so, which one did you go for?

    Mooring in Langstone Harbour

I'd be wary of keeping a boat to the west of the harbour entrance, near Southsea marina, especially if it's a drying mooring. We had an outboard stolen from there. It was locked inside the boat at the time!

    MD7A overheating?

I'm certainly hoping that it's something simple like weed. It was too dark when we got back to see anything, but I'll have a good look when I'm down next. I was a bit worried at the time I might have fried the engine, but it still seemed to run smoothly enough.

    MD7A overheating?

No temp gauge unfortunately. Though it's something I'd like to look in to fitting over winter if it's even possible. Will also check the buzzer too.

    MD7A overheating?

:) The bottom of the boat isn't too fouled, some slime but nothing major. Boat was newly antifouled midyear ish.

    MD7A overheating?

When I say it didn't feel like it had much power, what I really mean is that for the same number of revs, it didn't seem to be giving as much thrust/speed through the water as it normally does. It doesn't have a rev counter, but it does rev quite "highly" if needed. Though yesterday we weren't...

    MD7A overheating?

Out yesterday to make the most of the good weather, we misjudged the tides and ended up fighting to get back to Portsmouth harbour entrance from just beyond stokes bay, all under motor. We were really struggling to make any headway and it took us probably an hour and a half to get to the...

Wicor Marine for swing mooring - comments ??

Been there on a tidal swinging mooring since the start of the year, no problems with them so far. Everyone's very helpful and it's a nice peaceful place, would certainly recommend them.

    Visitor Moorings Solent

Cheers guys, Quite tempted to get one of those lights from millets and give anchoring in Chichester a go. We're coming from Fareham, and haven't made it as far as Chichester yet, so should be fun!

    Visitor Moorings Solent

Anchoring is what we'd like to aim for really. When we do manage to get hold of an anchor light, where would be a good place for a first time overnight anchor?

    Visitor Moorings Solent

Anyone know of any swinging visitor moorings within an easy half day sail from Portsmouth? Langstone or IOW maybe? We're hoping for a couple of nights away soon, and not too keen on marinas or having to raft up on a pontoon! We've not tried anchoring yet, and we don't have an anchor light...

What should I install on my new iPad?

There's an app called "Goodreader" that's excellent for downloading and viewing docs, especially pdf's. It's not free though, but worth it.

What should I install on my new iPad?

I store all my manuals in Dropbox, then you can access them all at any time from the iPad.
