Doubling DC wiring - but not all the way

Thanks for the feedback, of course aware of all said, but below is the issue. Of course it’s completely impractical to run 140 mm2 cabling, so even the manual states 2 x 70mm2. I can do that, my run is maybe 8m, but I can only get 1 x 70mm2 cable the last 1m or so due to access. I think I’ll...

Doubling DC wiring - but not all the way

A hypothetical question (for now) that's caused quite some differing opinions here : Let's say, according to manufacturer's guidance, I need DC wiring of 100mm2 each for the relevant run and current requirements. If I ran 2 lengths of 70mm2 cable, side-by-side, but only 80% of the distance...

Damn, would have had both, but I'm an awful long way away from Hamble!

Is this quote for new windows a little high?

How big are they, and do they need to open? That said, that price for custom framed windows, even if relatively small and fixed panel, it sounds reasonable to me.

    Anti-siphon loop needed ?

We have a holding tank above the waterline and therefore do not have a vented loop..as you say the tank itself and its air vent perform that function. It was fitted this way from the yard new, and has never been an issue.

    Selden gas strut

OK, some taking comment a bit literally. I would't pull the topping lift out of the mast, but you don't need to actively use it. That said, I have been on a boat where the gas strut failed, so nowadays still connect a topping lift when the sail is stowed on the boom.

You can do away with the topping lift, basically.

Whitlock Cobra 4 - Steering "Flutter"

30mm not 300mm ;) OP - you can buy 10x10mm stainless square bar stock, in a relatively short length, and cut off 30mm to suit. The round ends are not critical to the function.

Sebago Deck shoes - this is after 7 months daily use

Err no, good luck proving a failure after daily use for even 1 year isn't wear and tear. If the fault occurs after six months, the consumer has to prove that the problem was down to a fault or issue at the manufacturer, as opposed to wear and tear or misuse. p.s. I'm not inferring of course...

    Worn winch self-tailors.

Recommendation is minimum 3 turns on the drum, then up over the feeder arm and into the jaws. The only "broken" winches I ever saw, were where the stainless feeder arm had been under so much tension that it deflected/bent inwards, crushed the stripper and eventually pushed against the rotating...
