My ultra reliable and very easy to start inboard has a hard life pushing my rather heavy Robert Ives 21' sailing boat. All is fine except when pushed - and we can see the stuff coming out of the exhaust is very black. Back off the throttle and it clears again after a while. Any ideas ? Thanks.

Thanks. In my case I think it might be 1/2" GRP, 3/4" Marine Ply, then another 1/2" GRP. No wonder she's so heavy!

Forgive my ignorance - is 'double skin' where you have GRP each side of wood?

I ordered a new air filter for my Yanmar 1GM10 engine but it does not fit (too big), here is a picture of the new and old filters and the filter holder. I'm thinking that maybe a smaller air filter housing has been fitted at some point, although I'm not sure a larger filter housing would fit in...
