20 knots and the boat sits pretty bad in the water. 23-24 is a lot better speed
Also the big difference is that the TAMD74 will need overahul way before the D12 as the TAMD74 have to work so much harder at cruising speed
Boat has 1500 hours and no telling how it´s been run
My guess is also top speed mid 20s
If they reached 29 when tested it new I´m a bit surprised. Empty boat of course but probably with anitfouling
The D12 is a lot heavier and uses more fuel even at low speed so that´s good...
My friend is interested in a 2002 Princess 50 who has the TAMD74 480hp engines. Boat is ashore and the broker can´t tell any numbers about speed etc
Does anyone have experience of how it performs with these "small" engines? How underpowered and tired is it?
Option(which most boats of this size...
Personally I would stay away from both these boats due to being to big and heavy for outdrives. Not a matter of if but when you need to overhaul or replace them
Shafts is the way to go even if they use more diesel
A few years ago a friend of mine came up with the crazy thought of ramping his Princess 420 at our local boat ramp that doesn´t even have concrete longer out than about a meter. I said spashing no problem as long as the trailer don´t get stuck in the mud. Up is a different thing and very risky...
One issue with boats in Sweden is that a lot of them don´t have proof of VAT. Won´t be an issue if importing to UK but if for counties with in EU it can become a problem
The Volvo 41P is a very good engine and would be my choice
Yanmar are great engines but in this case we are looking at a 4 cyl and the sound and extra vibrations is no fun compared to the Volvo 41 6 cyl
The Volvo 41 has sleeves if you would end up overhauling the engine(not very likely on a 41P...
Cranchi 34 is a great boat
Most came with KAD43 which is the best motor and won´t give you any electric issues
Stay away from D4 and DPH outdrive
Targa 34 is better looking and probably a little better built but a lot smaller in the cabin. Bed in front cabin is really small if you ask me
Never...
I found this norwegian sailor on Youtube who did the trip and it´s all there on his channel Reidar Andersen
As you say they seem to have strong current at the beginning
Later on they show a lot of good speed(over 12 knots at top) and no mentioning of current against them
Is it no problem to take the canals St Port Louis to Travemunde or is it a no no due to current?
All I find online is people who go the canals north to south
A total idiot of a Captain who takes on Haulover inlet with people sitting in the bow of the boat. He doesn´t even stop or turn when she falls out
As I spend the winters in Ft Lauderdale/Pompano Beach I´ve been to this inlet many times both by boat and also by car to just watch
It´s rough even...
As you probably heard here in Sweden everything is open and if you ask me most people don´t seem to care or realize what´s going on
Marinas are open. People work on their boats. People are out on the water or in the small harbors of the old fishing villages out on the islands
Not to many boats...
A Scarab should be possible to import as a race boat/race gear which don´t need CE
At least that´s the rules for Sweden. Should be the same for UK and all EU
