    A Bridge Too Far ?

While on holiday in the Faroes we drove through one of the older tunnels which was single lane with passing places. We met a refuse lorry coming the other way and had to reverse and squeeze into a passing place on the 'wrong' side. So in dropped conversations we can boast about meeting a bin...

    Turntable ferry

Not quiet the same thing, but the Aust ferry across the River Severn was a turntable ferry, in that the turntable was central to the boat. One drove on to the turntable which then rotated and one drove off into a parking space. Didn't hold that many vehicles, but one made quite a few friends...

    Moving home to a marina

If you have to have electric metered, rather than buying a 'marine approved' why not install one of these - http://www.pjwmeters.co.uk/product_detail.php?id=5 A backing piece of ply, a bit of glass fibre (and you can also mount the galvanic isolator on it as well). The saving against the...

Should I stay or should I go?

No yobs in Milford Haven, but you would have to screw everything down tight in Neyland :- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-11062264

    Little Ship in the Caledonian

It's not always sunshine and light breezes. Hired a boat from Laggan Locks in March some time ago, for 10 days. Weather was brilliant and abysmal in equal measure. The day we met the MV Lord of the Glens we had an inch of hailstones on the deck to contend with, making mooring up a bit tricky...

Diesel bug case study for MBY

I would think older boats are more susceptible due to rubbish design. My twin engined boat had both engines stop out at sea soon after I purchased it due to having only water separators in the system and no fuel drains in the fuel tanks and no inspection hatches in the fuel tank. Steep learning...
