I have a pair of binoculars, the stubby ones with built in compass. Mine are Tasco but same are/have been sold as Seago, Talamex, Force4 etc.
They were lovely to handle at first but now a few years old the soft feel outer layer on the body has gone sticky. It doesn't come off on your hands...
On account of the actual condition when I looked at the blades properly, I suggest £10 (+ post, or collect near Brighton) for the decent one and you get the other one thrown in free with it, to keep or bin as you think fit after examination.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with either of them...
Well I've slipped up a bit here,
I forgot the blades are handed (the profile is symmetrical but the pitch setting screw position is different). These blades are RH, i.e. clockwise rotation in forward gear when viewed from behind. Acc to Kiwi this suits a 3GM30 shaft drive, SD would be LH. The...
@fredrussell No I don't think you can guess with any safety! If you can access your prop at the moment, did you know the blade sizes are identified by little pinhead dots in the moulding near the trailing edge? 16" has two dots. It's in the manual somewhere.
I have two 16" Kiwi Prop blades in near perfect condition. (The third one had a chunk knocked out of it and I replaced all 3 with a smaller diameter.) They are the earlier type with O ring seals, I can't tell you whether they can be mixed with the later type, you'd have to ask Kiwi. They include...
I think you're suggesting whacking it along the axis. I always find it better to whack the body of it perpendicular to the axis, with support on the opposite side (or use two hammers simultaneously if you are highly ambidextrous). The same undoing car ball joints on taper pins. I think the shock...
25mm shaft tapers to 21.5mm over 37mm length (must be 1:10, difficult to measure precisely!). M 16 thread. Keyway 7.8mm wide x 27mm long + radii.
No pin of any sort.
You must be able to see the end of the keyway in the coupling body outer end, that gives the game away! (Already said by Plum)
I had a 2003 SO32 with an MD2020 engine with the same gearbox as you have. (It also had a Kiwiprop). I had to remove the prop shaft to replace because of crevice corrosion. (There are pics of it on Vyv's crevice corrosion page in fact!)
It had a taper and keyway, no pin. I separated it with...
I think there is more to it than that, at least with new cars.
We have a new SEAT car with stop-start, efficient battery charging (which I don't trust, shortens battery life I'm sure!) etc
Instructions are emphatic that using a charger, you must put the neg on a contact provided for the purpose...
