yes, have inspected and no pin, just keyway and nut which I have taken off. The schematics on Marine part Europe confused me as they were showing a pin.
Cant get it off with pullers alone. It needs a whack whilst someone holds the shaft from outside the hull so unlikely to happen until after lockdown.
I think you're suggesting whacking it along the axis. I always find it better to whack the body of it perpendicular to the axis, with support on the opposite side (or use two hammers simultaneously if you are highly ambidextrous). The same undoing car ball joints on taper pins. I think the shock waves break it free better. Heating does help too. I do recall it was quite a b*gger to get off on my SO!
