If you have a tin of Multocoat and are happy with the satin finish you might as well go with that. I've had great success with Multicoat as it goes on easily and seems to hide (rather than highlight) any imperfections. Admittedly, I have only used it on deck and coach areas so far.

Another consideration - on a swing mooring it's a lot easier to row out with a litre of Alcool Brulee in your pocket than a gas cylinder.
Totally happy with Origo/Cobb combination on a small boat. It helps to remind you you're not at home!
I've installed Boat beacon and I'm thoroughly impressed with my very limited experimentation. For coastal sailors this has every chance of evolving into a great product once the network of stations is in place and longer range 4G becomes the norm.
I look on it as a £6.50 investment in a product...
I used van lining carpet to update the interior of my 80's boat. Really easy to fit, fairly cheap and looks great. I also bought a large offcut of cherry veneer from ebay and used that to cover any manky wood.
I spent around £100 on the carpet, £30 on the veneer and another £15 on paint...
I was in the same situation. I inherited a boat with a gas system that had to be condemned on safety grounds. Weighing up the pros and cons I replaced it with an Origo and I'm still happy with decision five years on. Cooking with gas is better (from a foody viewpoint) but the spirit stove is...
I've used Veltrim as a quick, cheap makeover in the cabin and would highly recommend it. Next summer I'm going to replace my manky headlining with the stretchier Megastretch. I've got some samples and it looks fantastic - it's lightweight and will easily take a compound curve. On the downside...
I sold an ancient YSB8 on ebay and got a decent price for it! The engine itself was sound but the gearbox was shrapnel - just what the other guy was looking for.
I think this is a fairly common trick as the thin, lightweight dyneema is less pleasant to handle than thicker polyester. Also the low friction characteristics make it too slippery for some winches.
My keel stepped boat does a good job at keeping the sea out - not so good with the rain.
Not a biggy though. Just have a solar powered bilge pump to chuck it out again.
I agree. People leaving Gaza or Eritrea have no idea how SAR works in the Med. Withdrawing or downscaling the service is barbaric. Europe is faced with an unprecedented inward mass migration that we are unwilling to acknowledge. Letting dozens/hundreds drown is just ignoring the real problem...
