    From this picture the lump of metal in the channel appears to be holding the frame joint together. It may be a mistake to remove it if there is an alternative solution to your proble.

    Use diesel engine oil from Halfords. Use car and van oil and fuel filters from motor factors such as Eurocarparts. Anodes from Partsforengines. Youll have plenty of change from £100. Why buy Volvo stuff at inflated prices?

    I’ve heard oxalic acid is good for yellow stains. It certainly works on those caused by rust.

    Thanks, sawduster. Your thread was informative. You may find that a large stud extractor will be helpful in getting out the remains of the insert. Im not looking forward to this job myself as there is not much space.
