Hi
I have a Sterling Pro-Alt C. 12V alternator to battery smart charger.
I'm in the tropics and I think that the unit might have overheated.
On reading the instruction manual it it says that the unit has a high temp trip and would have to be reset.
Does anyone know the reset procedure?

You can carry a book too! I once had great treatment with Spanish Customs and Immigration because I was carrying a copy of Don Quixote under my arm. On the other hand, in Union Island, clearing in to Clifton, the official pointed out that my boat entry document was completed incorrectly. I told...
Hi ostra, an old post of yours I found. I have exactly the same problem as you had. Just bought the engine, had been idle for a bit. Did that carb clean finally fix the problem?
I have 2 Sterling Ultra battery chargers. They have a programmable desulpation setting which I have just started using. The program 'charges' lead acid open cell at 15.5 A for 4 hrs. The recommendation is to use the program every month (we live aboard 50% of the year - it's a bit more now with a...
We use a 9505 and access weather via mailasail.com. We looked at Iridium Go but got put off by the reported setup complexity. We bought the 9505 cheap on ebay and what we avoided on the post of the 'Go' we used to buy a Mailasail Redbox.
The Redbox compresses the data and also offers nmea data...
I recall that one time there were colour issues with LED units as nav lamps. Are LEDs now approved for nav lamps?
Sorry for [post - just saw that my question has a;lready been answered in the thread.
Just a slight correction - you missed out the 'whom God preserve' in Dr Strabismus of Utrecht, as far as I recall. The show I think was called Q5. I didn't look up any of this on Google!
Yes and why do I know this stuff. And other stuff like SM's news report 'The man died suddenly after being...
I used to have a Jeanneau Sunfizz with horrible orange formica doors in the galley. I removed all the trim and covered the surfaces with Fablon of a more tasteful (IMO) hue/pattern. Refitted the trims, worked a treat. Easy and inexpensive.
When I read the heading a little ditty came to mind 'Threadgold's thorogrip, Threadgold's thorogrip, Threadgold's thorogrip garterettes..' de dah. Was it Mr Milligan's?
Agreed. Sailing - esp. cruising - is a good way of getting away from people. I can see that there will be pent up demand by the time that this is all over.
My masts are 15m. They have polystyrene foam at several places inside. I had to use 25 mm galv water pipe (threaded joints) to punch through (masts down). It worked for me but if no foam then plastic conduit would do (a la electricians rods) but usually they have to be glued with acetone.
My engine (diesel 6 cyl 5 lt) is connected to the drive shaft via an Aquadrive CV coupling. I recently noticed slight lateral movement of the engine when rolling in a heavy sea. Not a sideways shift, but a slight roll on the mounts, maybe 1mm. I've never looked before...It seems that some...
