I, too, have an aluminium hulled boat. 72ft long 1996 vintage. You need to be very diligent about what gets in the bilges and inspect often. I had a thorough ultrasound survey done before I bought it to check the thickness all over. As JFM says I can see white paint intact everywhere. No need to...
My understanding is that it is very cheap and involves a lot less paperwork to register a boat in Poland. This gives it full EU status so EU citizens do it for that reason.
FWIW here is my hydraulic platform. Newly retrofitted to my boat. I used it for the first time last week and I was delighted by it. Solid wood chocks and 4 flush fittings for tying down. The chocks have a "mushroom" hole underneath them and screw down with a big knob. Easy to take them off if...
When I sold my Princess 61 in Alicante I gave it to the local broker and had in mind to give them 3 months and if it did not sell then drive it to Cala D'Or where Nick Barke would sell it for me. Free on-shore storage but 300E per month to keep it clean. As it happened the local broker sold it...
I noticed on some new boats that they have wood flooring around the outside and carpet in the middle but the carpet is set down in a recess so it is level with the wood. Are you going for this or are going for wooden floors wall to wall with rugs on top it?
Thanks for your input, Adey
RE: Tabarca - How long did it take to get there? I hear the anchorages are busy and weekends but quiet in the week - do you concur?
Did you anchor anywhere else for the day?
Yes I thought that was a strange width to length ratio. I am 4.88m wide so plenty of room in a 6.2m. Here is the link from the guys that PeteM mentioned (thanks Pete!)

I see that they have 18 x 6.2m berths. My boat is 18.47m.
How fussy are they likely to be about the extra length? Do you think they would let me have an 18m berth?
Does / did anyone keep their boat in Alicante?
I visited there recently and I like the look of the place to relocate to. Any tips or advice gratefully received. I am told that the bars can get noisy in the summer so a position away from them is better.
The marina is full right now so I'd be...
Well there were 20 items on the requirements list and, not surprisingly, nowhere got full marks on all 20 but Alicante came top of the list. It scores highly on proximity to the airport which is served from Bournemouth all year round, being alive in winter and having places you can walk to from...
I have just returned from an 8 day visit to Spain to check out marinas. We saw 16 marinas in 8 days from Gibraltar to Roses near the French border. I'd say in most of them the lecky and water were metered and charged
We set off with a long list of requirements to suit our individual...
