A little help, please (identifying an old yacht)

The invaders, being a beamier boat with relatively small sail area, tended to be very forgiving and docile to sail. They didn't do anything unexpectedly. I hope you have a great deal of fun and enjoyment in your boat. George P/S, I'll post some pictures when I get back home, I'm not on my usual...

A little help, please (identifying an old yacht)

Thank you for your reply, I am really grateful for your efforts. It's annoying to have owned and sailed a lovely little boat only to forget almost everything about it. Strangely, I haven't forgotten much about the joy of sailing the old girl, my first 'round the island tour' or similar jaunts...

A little help, please (identifying an old yacht)

This enquiry may seem a little wayward but I'm trying to find out what I can about a yacht I once owned - the person who bought it wants to know some history and my brain doesn't function as it once did... The boat is an Invader 21. Bilge keeled. I think the dimensions were 21ft x 8ft (it was...

    Old style stanchion(s) required please

Apologies for the delayed response: I've not come across this material before, where might one obtain it? My vessel is in Gosport. Thank you. George.

Small Sailing Boat with Inboard Diesel. Advice Needed

The only problem I have encountered with my Invader 22 and it's Tohatsu 9.8 is the tendency for it to get dangerously close to being swamped by following waves. I've considered extending the leg length to make it sit out of the water by another 6" but I can't be sure the cost of the extension...

    Old fuel

It might pay to remember what diesel is - and whats its not - diesel is a base oil that is a remnant of the splitter process of distillation. Over long storage periods it will not suffer from evaporation as will octane high liquids including petroleum. Providing the diesel was clean at the time...

Has Practical Boat Owner got to change its name?

PBO is what got me into the boat world a long time ago, I was only about 14 or 15 when a lengthy visit to the doctors surgery gave me a chance to pick up a magazine (of which there were many) to while away the time awaiting my turn. It was a most interesting read, so much so I asked the...

I hope I'm not being silly, but isn't all nylon sea water resistant?

Is there a problem: starting outboard with battery disconnected?

You will not experience any problems. The reason to NOT switch off the charging cycle whilst in charge mode i.e: running, you can easily overpower diodes that convert alternating current to dc. The switching creates a power surge.

What is the yacht sales market doing?

Our boat yard doesn't appear to be 'dying'. In fact, I'd say it was the exact opposite. It's a friendly helpful atmosphere that's a pleasure to be in, with a mix of owners both young and 'seasoned'

    It ain't half hot mum

I don't often 'do' many foreign harbours but in 2017 I spent a week in Slovenia at Portoroz Harbour. A really nice well run friendly harbour, full of people who are very keen to help if required. It was also tremendously hot, asking if it was always like this the locals said it was normal. I...
