looked at the hood and the insulation in minimal. 2mm foam over half the inside but top front and back clear, 4mm adhesive foam pads are cheap on ebay, must be worth 10-15 pounds to try it out. cover the entire hood inside must make a difference

taking it out again tommorow for a few hours. that will test the engine t its max

looks like a picton but did they do a hull that large. most ive seen are 13-15 ft' could be a norman that someone adapted to put the front hatch in when it went from river to sea to allow easy anchor setting.. just a guesss. check to see if area around hatch is modified.

perfect thanks. will look into that. at the moment its on the drive. if i connect it to the battery of 110am hrs will it be ok during the day to keep it topped up and disconnect at night for now. it runs a fish finder for a few hours once or twice a week. if it gets used more i can charge it...

because its so clean every nut and bolt is capable of being undone with minimal force. in this condition it would make it easier for any repairs to be done if needed i suppose. trying to weigh up whether a further 400 on top of the poss value of the 2t of about 350 will i get better reliability...

found an old pv panel at the dump. about 18ins sqaure. tested it with a multimeter but havent a clue really how to use it but i think it was giving out 0.3 amps and 22.5v. does that sound about right. can i use this panel to trickle charge my leisure battery or do i need a controller.

looks like a late sixtys norman except the front hatch i had this problem years ago with an unknown boat on the canal. they were satisfied it looked factory made so didnt care who made it

put her in chi harbour today and no problems with the 4hp. got to hull speed at less the 2k rpm or thereabouts. she handled well but i yearn for the quiet of a new four stroke. had my 4hp longshaft2stroke since new in about 96 and she looks new but the chap in the dinghy next to me had a 4hp...

im tempted to look. the worst offender is the small cuddy cabin painted inside with black. a weathersheild type paint would work in there... she is well past her best but with a certain charm.
