VicS is partly right one end connects to the bracket on the outboard and the other end connects to the (teleflex) cable, and as you are fitting a remote system you will need that item. Please Ignore the picture as this is totally wrong as it is a hydraulic steering system not a cable system.

TREND do a good sharpening tool, it gives both the correct angles for wood chisels and can be used for wood plane blades. Not the cheapest but very well made.
