A quick reminder to any interested forumites that we are holding our Readers' Sea Trial Event (now known as Readers's Drives thanks to Jimmy The Builder) on Saturday 2 July at Haslar Marine in Portsmouth.
For just £30 you get an opportunity to drive these amazing boats:
Cormate T27
Windy 29...
As promised I have spoken to the boss and asked for the advert which has been appearing in the middle of the list of forum threads to be removed as this is the one which seemed to be the most disruptive. I understand that this has now been done.
We can't remove all the adverts from the site as...
Just to let you know that I hear what you are saying and will discuss it with the boss when he's back next week.
I can't make any promises as we are a media business operating in a challenging environment that needs to find new ways of making money. Wherever possible we try to make sure that...
Here is the full press release:
The European Patent Office has issued the final, incontestable verdict, assigning the electric fin stabilizer patent to CMC Marine, definitively rejecting the appeal filed by some competitors. This verdict recognizes at an institutional level the uniqueness of...
Hi David,
I'm the editor of Motor Boat & Yachting magazine that runs this forum. It certainly sounds like an interesting story which we may want to cover in the mag. Can you let me know where the boat is, what condition it is currently in and what proof you have that this was the actual boat...
I have just spoken to Dave Marsh who said that having driven a new 43 with the Seakeeper 5 fitted he would have no hesitation in speccing it (cost permitting). He reckons it actually handles better than the standard boat and has an array of unexpected benefits such as stability when crewing...
I have been using one on my outboard powered 22ft Karnic for the past 3 years. Personally, I think it's a game changer because it allows me to move about the boat putting out fenders, sorting out ski rope, untangling fishing lines etc without having to constantly remember to clip off and clip on...
The full line up of boats available for readers to drive at MBY's sportsboat sea trial event taking place at Portland Marina on Sat 18 July has now been finalised. It looks like this:
Williams Sportjet 520
Shearwater 890S Mercury Verado 300hp
XO 270 with 300hp Verado
X0 250 with 300hp Verado...
It was Dave Marsh testing it so I don't have much detail yet, all I do know is that it was an annoyingly calm day but that he did learn lots of interesting things about using the gyro that he wasn't expecting so the opportunity wasn't completely wasted. Unfortunately, it was a one day only...
The 43 we tested last week with the new Seakeeper 5 fitted was also a Cummins boat. We'll be writing about it in the next issue of MBY, mainly to see how well the gyro worked in a smaller boat like this, but the extra weight of the gyro and generator made the torquier Cummins engines a bit of a...
It seems I may have been a bit hasty with my previous post. Portland Marina are actually offering two nights for the price of one during the MBY Readers' Sea Trial event taking place on Sat 18 July. There is also a cut price day rate if you're just thinking of a flying visit. See here for more...
As mentioned on another thread we are hoping to sea trial a Princess 43 fitted with the new Seakeeper 5 option in the next few days for a story in MBY. Will let you know how it goes.
