In the boat I have a 240-12 v transformer - try Surom12v 30a Dc on Amazon- cost about £22. In the Workshop I use a variable voltage transformer - try searching R-SPS3010- gives more options on voltage and amperage- price £40-60 depending on exactly what you want.
you can put them in series but I decided to put them in parallel so in effect I have two systems- a blockage in one pump can then be isolated whilst the other is available. Remember I have room for the extra hoses
I’ve got a Lavac I fitted with an electric pump and kept the manual as a back up. Helped that I had space to fit y valves so all pipes share same outlet. Only had to use back up one in more than 12 years..

From memory the fluxgate compass has 3 sectors- I ended up replacing one when one of the sectors was wrong. if it won’t calibrat I would try to check it out
