    Around Patagonia

Another great film from this couple. Their previous efforts were fantastic and beautifully shot & constructed.

    Med Charters - Smaller Yachts

Hi Shipmates, Looking at a Med bareboat charter for late summer but curious if there are any charter companies with smaller sailboats available. Most craft at the smaller end of things are around the 34ft but wondering if any companies have circa 28-30ft craft available. Will only be two of...

    Old Boat Disposal

The blue pallets are CHEP pallets, a leasing based pallet which are sourced from and returned to various designated depots. Expensive and of a guaranteed quality but you can be sure that nothing in those burning alters to bigotry was actually paid for. I can't imagine that the Orange lads would...

    Etap 23

In addition to the above FB group there is also an Etap 22 Owners group featuring all generations including, I'm sure, 23s. Regardless, much of the 23 details would be very similar to our 22i model.

    Etap23

There are numerous discussions on this forum and others about etap foam water absorption and from what I can see in our '89 etap 22i I come down with those that say it ain't an issue. In my, granted relatively limited, experience of messing about in enclosed boats it's thankfully the dryest of...

Just some nice footage with dramatic music but no chitchat

Thanks for posting OP! Great couple of videos with fantastic footage & sailing . Up there with NBJS. Anyone identify the boat they are using?

    Handheld VHF

Sun? In Donegal?? Yeah, good idea to force any moisture, if it's present to make itself visible sooner rather than later.

    Handheld VHF

Just to follow up on this, received a Standard Horizon HX890E so hopefully it'll remain free of the above issues. At this stage I can't say anymore than it feels well built, user-interface is far from the worst that I've had to use and it's grand for listening to the radio on whilst sinking a...

    Handheld VHF

Thanks everyone for your help and valuable advice. As I thought, Standard Horizon & Icom, so it's just a case of choosing one or the other which will likely depend on local availability. I had been aware of there being done issues with condensation issues with some from a previous thread. Even...

    Handheld VHF

Any recommendations for a hand held VHF with GPS? Going to be used in our 22foot daysailer so don't want fixed. GPS enabled would be great, other than that the usual features I guess. Preferences seem to consistently be for Icom & Standard Horizon, for good reason I'm guessing?

Boat Electrics - Manual / Instructional Book

Thanks everyone for the great, and detailed replies. I'm not doing a great lot of work to the Little Seagull, just renewing nav & interior lighting and reconnecting wind & depth instruments although I've no idea if they work as they were not connected when we got the boat 2 years ago. I'm...

Boat Electrics - Manual / Instructional Book

Hi Folks, I see plenty of such books available but thought I'd ask if there were any that can be recommended and up to date? Some standard enough jobs to be done, renewal of mast lights, anchor light, interior lighting etc on our 22i etap and no charging systems to be concerned about.

Rebuilding 1929 Fastnet winner Tally Ho

I believe they have retained a lot of various original wood to be recycled & repurposed elsewhere on Tallyho, for example old decking where sound into interior joinery etc

Step-Up Yacht / Med Cruiser Suggestions (Affordable)

Agreed, even though we'd slowly try to make a boat ours by carrying out work upon it, improvements etc I don't need an actual restoration project; buying the best possible craft in the first place requiring the least amount of work is a good practice that I've already learned on other projects...

Step-Up Yacht / Med Cruiser Suggestions (Affordable)

Thanks for all your detailed responses Roger and your time taken to make them, greatly appreciated. Your Fulmar is a credit to you and shows what can be done with time, effort, forethought and patience as well as some cash. Well wear and happy sailing! Definitely a contender despite most of the...
