It's been raised with the marina manager / harbour master a number of times. The Berthholders Association has been on to him about it.. Which to date has got zero results. It does seem (and this is a perception) the Northern Ireland marina operates a bit nomadic compared to the English...
Yeah so it seems. It's funny here I think because the marina itself just went to road fuel pricing immediately and said nothing, and there was a lot of confusion here as to what happens regarding Red, with all kinds of scare stories etc, I don't suppose anyone thought there was a facility to...
Many thanks.. I've raised this now to the marina and the berthing association (BA), and the BA confirm this exists etc and has been put to the marina manager, which so far has produced zero fruit..
Good point about the RYA... I'll certainly raise it with them. We as private boat owners aren't...
Hi all,
Here's another interesting saga here in the tropics of Bangor. Due to the whole Brexit / EU trade agreement, Northern Ireland were no longer allowed to use Red diesel in private boats from October 1st 2021.
So here at the marina in Bangor, the fuel became white and the prices became...
That can be the case but not always.. If a number of boats report an issue it needs looking at.. I can say categorically I had fast anode depletion and I personally (with an electrical background) did all the checks and got a 2nd opinion from a professional in the field and my boat was not to...
This is interesting (and hopefully not veering off track) as my boat is at Bangor (Northern Ireland) and my anodes are in prettty bad shape after a year.. I've fitted a built in galvanic isolator and electrically tested the boat and no problems found. When she was out on the hard a local...
It's 'your dime, your dollar' at the end of the day but for me a lot of safety / maintenance things on the boat are for my own piece of mind rather than a likely failure. Knowing I've 'double clipped' below waterline fittings with good quality clips as another thing to have peace about...
It's a bit of a quandry here. The plywood floor I had in a previous Avon was very heavy, which I want to avoid. I generally keep the inflatble 'pumped up' as I used it as a tender from davits (which are fairly lightweight) so ideally I'd like keep the dinghy light but rigid. I thought about...
Thanks Greg. I assumed with an air deck over an existing V-floor, the deck just slotted into the 'groove' on the sides of the inflatable, much like the aluminium / slatted floors do, just thicker.
I've found a 'China fantastic' air floor that I think would fit. I'm just wondering if the theory works to replace a slatted floor with an air floor?
