So the consensus seems to be, don't spill fuel and also check pipes/hoses for leaks and porosity. Is that enough to prevent a smell or do some model outboard boats have an inherent problem?
I'm between boats at the moment but seriously thinking about an outboard for the next one. After a lifetime of diesels on shafts and a couple of outdrives, I think it's time for a change.
My main concern is the possibility of petrol smell (re the other thread I started recently). It doesn't...
So I guess Jeanneau must have had several cases reported for them to bring out the upgrade.
The two boats we looked at and noticed the smell were both MF's.
Is this only a Beneteau and Merry Fisher problem?
Do all outboard powered boats with a tank in the lazerette smell of petrol? We have had diesels on shafts before so no experience with outboards.
Viewed a couple of boats recently and there was a distinct petrol odour. Is that always the way?
Another good idea. Thanks. Always liked Hardys. Well made I've heard. Just that stern access worry again. I'm not sure about lifting her up and down the ladder. (The dog that is, not Mrs Star)
Good one. Thanks. There's a nice one for sale in Plymouth but we'll have to pass on it as we need better access at the stern to get the dog on and off.
Some good ideas there. Thanks.
I did think of another one - a Trusty T23, but they are very rare and I'm not entirely sure I would go for one anyway.
Budget? I don't know. Man maths. If the right one comes along ..........
