    Rule automatic bilge pump

Hello, I have a Rule automatic bilge pump and I am looking for anyone who has experience of these pumps. I cannot remember the model I have but it is the type that does not require a float switch. Every 2.5 minutes the pump tests the presence of water. If none it switches off, but if water...

    Solar trickle charge

East Anglian wooden sloop. I have looked through the solar threads but haven't found an answer to my question. I have stripped out my electrics ready for a complete re-wire. So I only have a Rule automatic bilge pump to keep out the water and to start the engine. If I get a 5 w solar panel...

    Grey coaming

I think I have got some sculling around in the garage somewhere. Must give it a try when she is ashore for the winter. Thanks for that

    Grey coaming

Thanks for that. I had thought that would be the case - but you never know, another sauce might work. Thanks

    Grey coaming

The coaming on my wooden sloop has gone grey (from lack of attention). I can sand the wood back to a nice rich mahogony but is there a solution tht will do the job followed by varnish. Don't want to take off too much wood by sanding. Any ideas?

    Plastimo platismo?

Thank you. I knew it was there somewhere i just did't know where. It's my age you know. Thanks for your replies. Looks like a replacement with the upgraded light is best, Sourced one as £35. Thanks again

    A trifle odd really

Posted a query about repairing a Plastimo hand held bearing compass v cheaper to buy a new one! But my post has vanished - or at least I cannot find it. Been away a few days so wasn't checking. So, can these compasses be repaired or is a new one the best option? Lookig forward to your replies rgds

    Plastimo platismo?

Which ever! I have one, a hand bearing compass with a permanent light. Trouble is the chamber now has a bubble in it and the light has gone out! Can they be repaired? or is it cheaper to buy a new compass? All the best John

    Pela 6000 Oil Extractor

I have a Pela (6000?) and the tubes supplied with it fit down the dipstick hole in my Bukh DV10. Not sure which model Pela it is.

    Stopping the Rot

Stop the rot Cut out the rot and replace with a dutchman made from mahogoney (sp). Leave wood hardener to the furniture and other non-structural areas. As you remove the rotten wood you may well find that the rot actually goes further than you thought. Good luck John

    Rule me in

A few days ago my Rule 1100 automatic bilge pump went peculiar. Instead of sampling every 2.5 minutes it began sampling every 12 - 15 seconds. The result was a flat battery. As I no longer had the receipt from the supplying chandler I contacted ITT(Jabsco) who asked me to send the pump to them...
