I am looking at another Fisher 25 with an MD2B engine... so far in working condition
Is there a more modern volvo that fits the same engine mounts for when replacement becomes necessary
Dylan
they do rot from the inside - or so I had hear
and if spares are not available at all .....then that is a real bumma
I had some miserable weeks with the MD1 - I lost the best bits of two summers....
hmmmm
it looks a nice tidy compartment
it seems as though the engine has been looked after...
I am now considering another elderly motorsailer... this time with a Volvo MD2B - 42 years old.
What are the chances of getting another five years out of the engine?
I shall get her fired up from cold - any pointers for me?
I confess that having had some tough times at the hands of an old...
I spent some time drifting up and down the Deben thinking about the Buhk engines and the comments made here.
The next boat should be for four or five years and I do not want to spend too many hours staring down that engine hatch mithering about spare parts....
The boat could be brought up to...
It has a stainless steel elbow - which I assume is a good thing.
this is it starting from cold....

when below 5 degrees C it needs heat from a blow torch blowing into the air intake - which I assume is not a good thing
The three year old Wallas...
thanks for that
re-assuring to hear
I will have an outboard bracket on the back and the Tohatsu long shaft 6hp slumbering in a locker somewhere just in case

Thanks for that
Do you know how old the elbow was when it failed?
Does it happen suddenly?
can you keep running for an hour or so after it has failed?
