    dropping the kite....

Aidy said RACING! So, forget about falling off to almost downwind. This will cost a lot of time. Since he wants to drop the kite I asume the next one is an upwind leg. So he has to HEAD UP. And this is excellent for a Stretch-and-Blow-drop as mentioned earlier. That one works especially good...

Another furling post - this time Facnor

I am back. Not sure, if mine is an SD. Anyway, it's the one with the non removable drum. But that doesn't matter, since the drum didn't cause me any problem. Source of my problem was the attachment of the forestay. Mine was attached at the bow with a turnbuckle and swaged terminal. Now, the...

Another furling post - this time Facnor

I removed my Facnor furler a couple of weeks ago for good. Procedure is not as straightforward as the installation manual suggests. Depending on how long your furler was in its current position you'll pretty sure destroy some parts. I am a bit short with time now. I'll come back to you tomorow...

NMEA 2000 transducers / data senders to Lowrance Globalmaps

I don't think that your plotter will be able to display speed and depth information. Sure he will get the sentences via NMEA 2000, but than, what to do with it? It depends on the plotter's software/firmware As far as I can remember my Lowrance 3500C doesn't give me the opportunity to configure...

Where to go in Greece #2 - what about Turkey?

[ QUOTE ] I was charged in 2007 at Simi, despite protesting the illegality. It was claimed that the charge was because I entered from Turkey. Cruising Log was stamped by harbourmaster, who levied the charge. Port Police were thoroughly unpleasant over entry proceedures. I understand that many...

    Marina in Athens area

If it has to be marina Olympic Marina at Lavrion is your best option. Since you want to leave your boat hauled out you should consider a boat yard. Koupetoris Boatyard at Salamina island is a good one. It is at Agios Nikolaos, 0030-210 4640536 (ask for Mike). Dirk

    Rebedding stanchion bases

Spyro, it is realy impossible to get to them - at least to one of them. That would require major disassembling of boats bonded woodwork and cutting out a huge part out of a bulkhead. mogy: Sometimes they don't think at all, me thinks.

    Rebedding stanchion bases

I have to rebed a couple of stanchion bases and at least two of them I cannot reach from down below. That means that I cannot fit a backing plate and trough bolt the bases since I cannot reach the bolts from below decks. Any suggestion how to screw the bases to the deck only from the top...

    New sail question..

You guys gave a lot of good answers with useful information. But I think most of you missed the point. The question was not if he should spend some money on new sails or for a repair job on his old sail. The question was what he can expect for the money spent more on sails from lofts like North...

    Displacement & weight

Another displacement question While reading about displacement here I come to think about one more thing. The characteristics of my boat (Jeanneau Rush) read weight of the boat 3200 KG, weight of ballast 1140 KG. Does that mean that the displacement is 4340 KG or is the weight of ballast...
