A small leak below the waterline-repair between the tides

Hi everybody, Lifted my bilge keeler in yesterday and the paddle wheel log has a small leak inside the boat. About one pint every three hours. The water should find its way eventually to the very good up to now Whale Smart Bilge Pump and go over the side. Am trying to avoid the expense and...

My cockpit drains below the waterline-any thoughts?

Hi Capn Creosote I'm not very good at measuring by the look of things. My Atlanta Viking 8.5 is near Bangor just around the corner from you. I try to sail with my mast not far from vertical you must like a lot of wind.Stemar my Colvic had gate valves on the cockpit drains.I think they were...

My cockpit drains below the waterline-any thoughts?

My cockpit drains below the waterline-any thoughts?

My Atlanta Viking 8.5 cockpit drains below the waterline and there are Blakes seacocks in use. Would it best to shut them before leaving the boat for a week or two? Any ideas what a surveyor would say. Hoses are double clipped and appear to be in good condition. Thanks

This hole doesn't seem to have a grub screw or roll pin. There are no threads that I can see or feel at the top...

    Diesel in engine oil

Hi everybody I compared the smell of my Ford Mondeo Diesel dipstick with what came out of the Yanmar sump. Fairly certain that the Yanmar oil smells of diesel. It hasn't separated in the sample jar I saved. So maybe I checked the oil level correctly before my short 90 mins of motoring?Thanks...

    Diesel in engine oil

Hi everybody a follow up thread. The contents of the sump are now in a clear container in my garage.About 2.4 litres pumped out maybe 0.2 litres that the pump couldn't reach and maybe 0.2 litres that went into the bilge when I removed the dipstick. Yanmar 2GM20.Capacity is supposed to be two...
