Mr Googler, what a great job you are doing on your boat.
All that hard work, blood sweat and tears, not necessarily in that order, will all be worth it. I started painting cars back in the 70's and quickly learned it not about your skill levels it's all about the tooling. DAs, palm sanders...
Thanks for the input. The oil is clean, only having run for 20 minutes and the level is the same as it was before the problem. The engine has done 23 hours so not worth rebuilding yet, unless there is damage internally. When I was younger I would strip and rebuild an engine for fun now I'm old...
That makes a lot of sense. When I took the starter out it was really crusted up badly. so its a problem in the aft area. Time to get the boat out and do a lot of maintenance. All good fun!!!
Do you think its worth trying to get a bit of movement from the front pully or do they seize solid with...
Due to the lockdown and having to shield my boat has been in the water all winter. Ran it in March and all was OK
But the boat has taken on water and the bilge pump has packed up so the engine was sat in some water. I took the starter motor off and that is US being filled with corrosion and...
I did buy that Allegro!!!! It was a toss up between a Lancia Fulvia and Allegro. What a mistake.
The first thing to go was the gearbox, so I removed engine and box separated them and stripped the box. After pricing up the parts it was much cheaper to part exchange for a recon, so I rebuilt the...
Thanks.
I've looked at the Garmin units and if the marine gear is anything like their car satnavs I would be very happy.
The Striker Plus 9SV seems a good bit of kit.
Being new to boating and boat fishing I thought it would be a good idea to get a fish finder. I never imagined it would be such a difficult task to choose one. Do you think a £500 budget would be enough or more like double that!
No It’s not about strength but the mooring is due for its yearly check so I will be replacing shackles, chain etc and thought shall I put the larger buoy on or not.
My buoy went “missing” last autumn so I replaced with one I had in the workshop. It was smaller than my original
I’ve acquired another buoy which is maybe 3 times bigger. It will certainly be easier to see amongst the many other similar sized/coloured buoys!
Are all lifejackets the same size?
I'm kitting out a small boat for myself and the grandkids. As there is a 20 stone difference in myself and them I can't believe one size fits all.
It's the automatic inflatable belt type lifejackets I'm looking at.
Crewsaver Crewfit 165N seem good
