    Yachting Monthly (March) MoB article.

This looks really good and I honestly think it's the only way my wife would be able to bring aboard an exhausted 20 stone man. Whilst others have said risky with ropes etc. in the water, you can winch that no problem.... I think there is a psychological practical side to steering the boat...

RYA or Cruising Association or Neither

I only went for it due to the possibility of French authorities getting funny about my RYA certs should I travel there and be unlucky enough to get some grumpy gendarme type inspecting my boat papers. As things go with Brexit and the Pandemic I now have no desire at all to go to France this...

RYA or Cruising Association or Neither

Yeah I joined the RYA for the ICC and then I realised that the RYA actually had no relevance to me at all for the rest of the year. Didn't offer any sense of community and to be honest felt very dry and old school. I looked at the CA and discovered their Captains Mate app. If you've never...

    Orca attack

I use these when I play paintball. They have a short fuse and when they get wet are not very effective (they make more of a low whumph sound as opposed to a bang).

    Clacton Airshow

I didn't sail to Clacton as I just didn't fancy the swell. However, having been sat in the crowd on Clacton next time I'm going to endure the swell!!!... Here's some photos that I thought I'd share with you all. Not the best as the light was pretty dark on Friday but I thought I'd share...

    Sailor rescued in Dorset lol.

http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/video/3735593690001/?ref=vidshare Well at least he was wearing a buoyancy aid! What must the chap who sold him the dinghy be thinking? I can see it now: Buyer: Yes I want to sail to America! Seller: Of course you do, don't we all hahahahaha Buyer: I'll use...

    Brightlingsea with young children

Don't forget that on the 21st and 22nd it's the Clacton Airshow http://www.clactonairshow.com/... Maybe worth timing your return so you could catch the planes flying overhead when at anchor.

    KOVALAM”

Went in last night, I didn't notice the no alcohol sign. I sat down looking forward to a curry and cold one after a great days sail only be told we don't server alcohol anymore. I asked why and was told it's an experiment in seeing what people like as they don't think people should be drinking...

Radio calls ... What not to call your boat

Saw this beauty moored at West Mersea... I think the name says it all really!

    Flood warnings as well!

So Mersea at high tide looked like this (wasn't as high as last night): The Strood The Strood 2 Coast Road House Boats The front of WMYC The Hard just opposite the old lifeboat shed next to WMYC

    Flood warnings as well!

Just got back as I went down to see if I could check on the boat. Not a chance the water is way too high and this was around 40 mins to HW. For those who've been to the Coast Road you'll know how high this is. I've never seen it so high! I just hope those on the house boats are ok. Was very...

Antifoul was effective this season due to Chilli powder!

He's got a point. However, I'm going to try it again next season and if it works again I'll keep on doing it as chilli powder is as cheap as **** so why not give it a go? :-)

Antifoul was effective this season due to Chilli powder!

Just thought I'd share my observations around my antifouling this year. I thought I'd try adding Chilli powder to my anti-foul as I heard lots of people say it works so thought I'd try it for myself. 2012 season I used Hempel Cruising Performer Antifoul with no chilli powder and its fair to...

XBOX ONE or PS4 for the boat?

I've thought about a console on board and will probably do this when I move to a larger boat. The XBone and PS4 are medium to high end PCs so will draw a lot of power. In addition these systems in particular are much more reliant on the Internet for all their social media connectivity. Here's...

    St Katherines update

Going up the Thames is on my list of places to sail next year. What are the alternatives to St Katherines?
