Mine gets blocked from time to time and a length of wire usually does the trick. You need to take off the rubber tell tale tube and the wire will go 2 -3" inside the head to clear it. Brilliant engine only spoiled by having to take the cover apart to take off the cowel.
I used to follow your exploits in the Pacific with great interest and wondered what happened to "Stingo". Good to see you survived a lightening burnout which must have been a sobering experience. Good luck with your new boat search.(y)
A shame and it will give real difficulty getting her off apart from the inevitable scrotes taking equipment off her if left for any time. I hope it works out ok.
A guy in my old sailing club bought a very nice Prout 37 that had similarly pulled the mooring in Poole Harbour and after several...
My last request for a survey was 2007 (5 years after purchase) on a near 50 year old cat. Since then they have just requested a confirmation of sea-worthyness from me. With N&G who were very good when my cabin door was broken into and a few things stolen.
I have a motley collection of fenders of different makes. They are all a bit saggy and require more inflation. I need to buy an adapter to fit a hand pump that I use normally to pump up a air horn. I also could use my fast 12v dinghy inflator pump. Are all fenders the same type of valve-I was...
Thanks - running my prop through that calculation with 2.42 gearbox reduction gives 9.35 kn and with 20% slip around 7.5Kn which sounds about what I would expect.. Just need to find a prop without straining my budget even further.
That is interesting thanks. I want to make a change but need it to be worthwhile. A drop from 9" to 5" pitch (13" prop) should get me to 5300 if the lower or 5700 if the higher figure, both within the 5-6ooorpm range. Somehow against my better judgement I let the Yam dealer convince me this was...
My outboard came overpropped and max revs is 4500 rather than say 5500 so I am thinking of a smaller pitch prop. Some sources suggest a pitch alteration of 1" will result in an rpm change of 200 other say 300rpm. Any informed views or experiences on this topic?
I will believe it when I see it. Most of these grandiose projects are just pipe dreams or someone selling sommething that does not stack up either financially, functionally or with environmental problems apart from overcoming objections from the many interested parties.
It is a reliable service but with very limited hours of service in wnter up to the end of March. There is parking at Darthaven Marina at a reasonable cost or on the raod up to the castle. There are a few spots in town but as household parking is at a premium locals may get a bit uptight at their...
i have just moved onto a pontoon berth and plan to attach to the cleats with shackles as I have got made up lines with spliced hard eyes. How do marinas generally feel about this as I wonder about a stainless shackle damaging the galvanizing on the cleat?
