This is all really helpful and useful practical info. Thank you so much for taking time to reply
I’d factored in we could manage around 40 nights a year + a few more if we work from Mallorca for a few days either side. The one benefit of covid is flexi working ! It would tie all of our...
my berth costs for Windermere are just over 7300 for the boat and 1000 for the RIB.
been given prices of 31.65 euros a day (11550 a year) for permanent berth = £9625 on current exchange rate across the year.
this is from the broker and the marina tariff.
putting it on hard standing for the...
yes the time element is my concern. We Both have full time jobs and kids in school. however we are getting tired of being on Windermere and the only other place in the UK would be the south coast. Which for us would take longer and be more hassle to get to than a flight from Teesside to Palma...
Very helpful - thanks everyone
what I thought would be complicated seems like it isn’t.
would moving it to a British flag reduce its resale value back on the Spanish market in a few years time?
now just need to make big decision on moving our boating abroad….heart says yes. Head is still...
Thanks. No definitely on Boris tax book here in the UK ?
so it really is as simple as deregistering the Spanish flag and putting it on SSR?
I guess I would still Need a better proof of IVA/VAT than an invoice to the second owner just saying IVA paid?
I don’t think I’ll go ahead unless they...
Hi
I’d really appreciate some help. I’m trying to navigate myself around post brexit registration and tax liabilities of buying a Spanish registered/flagged boat and keeping it in Mallorca. The boat in question was sold by Sealine Mallorca originally to a Spanish resident and has stayed there...
Personally I’d just start it. 2 years isnt a huge amount of time for anything to seriously degrade and they are very robust simple engines. No high pressure injectors or rubber cam belts!
I suspect there are many boat engines having been stood for a couple of seasons are just started up and...
can highly recommend Dave at Land and Marine Trimmers. Just had my s34 cockpit done in Silvertex. Looks fantastic.
(let down by the state of my teak although to be fair this was 10 days into our holiday with two 7 year olds!,)
Unless you want to spend many thousands going new and common rail you will get diesel fumes - that is just how they were.
maybe worth getting injectors looked at and treat fuel with marine 16 or something similar before spending mega money re engining
Just caught up on the YouTube channel. Looks to be an interesting project and will be keeping tuned for the next instalments!
And what a great looking boat too - a real modern classic!
Just to add
your only option is Windermere if you want to go down the power route and launch sites are limited to Ferry Nab only If you trail down
Windermere Quays / Aquatics will do dry storage and launch on demand throughout the summer I believe.
you may be able to Self launch if you store...
Echo comments above on suitability. as you know it rains a lot in the lakes and inclement weather creeps up quickly. We visit the boat most weekend on Windermere and can count on one hand this year the days where the weather has been kind all day.
some things to think about:
- there is no...
Not really would be my answer. You can check the river levels for far sawry which is a good barometer for Windermere. Anything less than 0.6 on that gauge and I would not risk the river Leven as far down as the swan
if you look historically it’s often much lower in the summer and your boat...
