I would be more concerned about what appears to be quite a sharp transition between the hub and the blades. This would create a stress raiser at the point at which the blade appears to have initiated a crack. A larger radius at the junction would have reduced this effect.

What you need is a car overdrive solenoid, they switch to a light holding coil once engaged.
