Hello everyone.
We are currently at sea, and have just gone to engage our autopilot and we have a fault.
The screen says something like rudder data missing?
I emptied the locker above the rudder compartment to find everything as it should be. Nothing loose and no leaks.
I called for the...
Hi everyone.
My friend has the same gearbox as me in his boat and she goes into astern and neutral fine. But when ahead is selected, she doesn’t engage straight away. The only way she’ll go into ahead gear, is to briefly rev the engine to a fairly high engine speed and when she returns to tick...
Hi. I didn’t know that, but thank you for letting me know!. We’re debating going electric, so if anything serious goes wrong, we might be going down that route. But until they’re more proven in yachts, we might still be using the good old Perkins!
Just had another look on ASAP, still can’t locate it. There’s dozens of plugs which are bsp, but until the thread size has been identified, I don’t want to get the wrong one.
Hi everyone.
I came to drain my gearbox oil yesterday and upon taking the plug out, noticed the flats of the head were pretty chewed up. Someone in the past had obviously used the wrong sides spanner!
Would anyone know what thread it will be or where I could possibly get another one please? I...
I’ve just got back to my boat, and measured the distance from the heater, to the skin fitting and it’s 2.5 metres.
I’ve looked into bigger diameter exhausts and from the standard 24mm, it goes up to 30mm and 38mm.
Can anyone give advice on whether 30 or 38mm would be enough for the 2.5 metre...
Thanks Martyn. But sadly, the positioning of the heater, won’t allow a short run of exhaust pipe.
I’m reconning having a larger diameter of pipe to reduce frictional losses.
Can I please ask, how do you make a drain hole in the bottom of bends to allow condensation to drain out? Surely exhaust gasses will also come out the same hole into the cabin/locker space?
Ahoy there! I’ve just bought a Moody 422 fin keel yacht, and I’m wondering if she is able to take the ground, if I was to dry her out alongside the wall in a drying harbour?
I’m no stranger to drying fin keel boats to the wall, so I know what to do, but that is to boats I know that are capable...
Ahoy everyone. I have a 30’ fin keel Golden Shamrock and some of the way around where the keel meets the hull, there’s some silicone/mastic/poly sulphide type stuff. It’s starting to go a bit powdery and you can dig your finger nail in it, so I thought I’d clean it out and reseal it.
I’ve read...
