If its a Volvo, D B MarineCan anyone recommend a gearbox engineer on the Thames. TIA
Yes it is Volvo Penta. Thanks but I was looking for an alternative. If its a Volvo, D B Marine
Removed my gearbox and dropped into the auto gearbox repair outfit next door to my workshop, for quick look purely to diagnose what had failed. Why not try a vehicle gear box specialist?
Probably got more experience in gear box work than a marine fitter.

Have a Pirtek right next door to a motor factor with a lovely expensive chandlery just round the corner....Boaty heaven.Often non marine options are cheaper/better.
We had a damaged hydraulic hose once and we were told it had to be replaced and not repaired by a marine company. This was gonna cost over £200 plus new fluid and a month to order the replacement hose.
Short trip to local Pirtek branch and £10 (plus VAT) later we were back in business with the fitter creasing himself that they'd told us it couldn't be repaired. He also gave us ATF fluid to top up the hoses FOC. The Pirtek fitter said he enjoyed working on something that wasn't yellow with caterpillar tracks!
