Hi everyone,

I have a a 32 foot boat with twin 200hp Ford mermaid turbo 4’s. One runs like a dream, the other runs well but suffers from rpm loss and black oily smoke from the exhaust.

I’m thinking maybe injector issues or a blocked exhausts elbow.
Anybody had a similar issue?

Black oily smoke sounds more like a turbo. Are we talking lots or a little and has it happened overnight? Does it happen underway or at the berth? Is it persistent?

Any large quantity of smoke would indicate a serious issue which needs investigating

not a large amount of smoke. Same as the good engine just darker and oily. At lower revs there is very little bit when coming back in after an hour or so there is black oily residue over the trim tab and the starboard side of the transom. Engine will only Rev up to about 2100 when under load.
