Hi.im looking to buy a ketch or similar & use her as a liveaboard in or as near as possible to Bristol. Bristol harbour is "full" apparently & so is the Gloucester & sharpness near Framlington.Does anyone have an alternative suggestion as a mooring near Bristol? Help!

Hi Keith & welcome to the forum.

I've been on the waiting list for Bristol Marina & Bristol Harbour for a few years now, in all honesty I doubt I'll ever get to the top of either. I saw something recently where Portishead Marina have now outright banned living aboard. How about Watchet? BTW when you approach them best not to mention the L word. It is getting more difficult to find somewhere that you can live quietly on your boat...

Cold calling to Bristol moorings often results in brush offs. Admittedly, before the housing crisis, I was told by a friend to just turn up. It worked. There are other moorings in the docks but you need to walk around to find them.
