I've always by-passed Zeebrugge, it never has appealed somehow and the pictures on the Royal Belgium Yacht Club site don't make it look very interesting.
However,I would like to visit Bruges. Has anyone got advice on this? Is there a boatyard or marina at the end of the canal?
There was a thread by a forumite who did it in a mobo last year, but is it worth doing with a fixed mast, 1.8m draught ?

If memory serves, CliveG went a couple of years ago via Zeebrugge (yacht - mast up)

Oostende then the train, simples

As an alternative to the canal (or Sailorman's suggestion), you could always do what we have done - moor in the very pleasant port/seaside resort of Blankenberge and take the very inexpensive train to Bruges. We've also visited Brussels from there before by train which was also inexpensive.
Then again, I don't think we'd ever get down a canal.....

Wow!! first class report from Clive!
We were in Bruges last weekend - Whilst up the tower which is in the middle of the city I took this pic of where Clive moored up! (or it could have been the masts slightly forward from the red arrow) - I'm sure Clive can advise.
As you can see it is v close!!

Yes that is the place.

The other way to Bruges

Went the quick way! Left the boat on the mooring in the Orwell, took the plane instead. Landed at Ostend, bus to train station, train to Bruges. There and back in a day!
