z spars in mast reefing

Many thanks for the advice on my neighbour's seagull problem. The shotgun worked a treat!

My other neighbour has asked me to splice a new tail onto his in mast furling line on his in mast reefing system, which is not an option as the whole line needs to be replaced. The problem is neither of us know enough about the system to replace the furling line.
The mast is Zspar on a ten tear old Jeanneau Sun Odysey about 43 feet.
A desciption of the access to the furling drum would be:
top: black anodised pad 120mm x100mm, two vertical m10 bolts with an allen screw beneath.
middle: a 25mm diam tube 600mm long.
bottom: reverse of the top. All dimensions are from memory and very approximate!
The owner is loathe to start dismantling without adequate guidance. so if any of you nice people can advise we would be most grateful.
